Thomasi Health Center

Originally started many years ago, Thomasi Health Center operates under the supervision of the Christian Health Association of Malawi which is owned by the Seventh-day Baptist Church.


Serving a population of over 14 805 in Tradition Authority Thomas and surrounding areas.


This health center is located about 31 km from Thyolo Hospital.


The staff available at the facility are Clinicians, Medical Assistants, Nurses, Health Surveillance Assistants, HDAs, to name a few.


The facility does not accommodate critically ill people, those in need of intensive care are referred to Thyolo General Hospital.


Pregnant women give birth at this hospital only if there is no serious problem requiring surgery. In the event of a serious emergency, they are referred to a major hospital.

Out-Patient health services.

Outpatient service treats patients who are attending facilities for treatment without a need to stay overnight.


MCH health service.

The MCH Section provides statewide leadership and public health information essential for promoting, improving, or maintaining the health and well-being of women, children, and families.


Reproductive health services.

Components of reproductive health • Family-planning counseling, information, education, communication and services; • Education and services for prenatal care, safe delivery, and post-natal care, especially breastfeeding, infant and women's health care; • Prevention and appropriate treatment of infertility; abortion

Immunization is the process of giving a vaccine to a person to protect them against disease. Immunity (protection) by immunization is similar to the immunity a person would get from a disease, but instead of getting the disease, you get a vaccine. This is what makes vaccines such powerful medicine 


Public health services.

Environmental health is a key part of any comprehensive public health system. The field works to advance policies and programs to reduce chemical and other environmental exposures in air, water, soil, and food to protect people and provide communities with healthier environments. 


HIV and AIDS health services.

The goal of this service is to prevent HIV infections, to reduce vulnerability to HIV, to improve the provision of treatment, care, and support for people living with HIV/AIDS, and to mitigate the socio-economic impact of HIV/AIDS on individuals, families, communities and the nation. 


Palliative care health services.

Patients in palliative care may receive medical care for their symptoms, or palliative care, along with treatment intended to cure their serious illness. 


Cervical cancer health services.

Cervical cancer starts in the cells lining the cervix -- the lower part of the uterus (womb). The cervix connects the body of the uterus (the upper part where a fetus grows) to the vagina (birth canal). Cancer starts when cells in the body begin to grow out of control 


Youth Friendly health services.

Youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services are services or clinics that deliver a comprehensive range of sexual and reproductive health services in ways that are responsive to young people's specific needs, vulnerabilities, and desires. 


TB health services.

Tuberculosis (TB) control relies on early diagnosis and treatment. International guidelines recommend systematic TB screening at health facilities
